Faculty Affairs and Diversity at WashU plays a critical role in ensuring and promoting the success of faculty of all backgrounds, on all tracks and at all career stages. As part of the Office of the Provost, we provide professional and leadership development for tenured/tenure-track faculty and teaching, research, and practice faculty.

Faculty development

The Office of the Provost has designed a new faculty development program for early career tenure-track faculty and mid-career faculty (tenure-track and TRP). This year’s schedule will address three main topics: cultivating mentors and sponsors, promotion requirements and timelines, and work/life balance.

Leadership development

We are dedicated to developing the next generation of academic leaders.

Building an inclusive, dynamic community

While we continue to make our existing campus community ever more inclusive, we want to help you bring diverse and underrepresented perspectives to our campus.

Visiting scholars

The Distinguished Visiting Scholar program invites underrepresented minorities who have distinguished themselves as leaders and innovators to WashU.

Faculty search support

Our office works with the deans, department chairs, and hiring chairs to recruit, retain, and develop a faculty that is both excellent and diverse.

Advisory groups

Our team convenes several university advisory groups that are actively generating and assessing best practices for our community.
